This morning, Foreign Office Minister Chris Bryant visited the Zero-Carbon Emissions Corridor in Mexico City. This project aims to improve public transport whilst being sustainable, by creating a zero emissions corridor in one of the most important avenues in Mexico City. Chris Bryant was joined by the British Ambassador to Mexico, Judith Macgregor and local authorities during his trip. Chris and Judith even had a trip on one of the new electric green buses, which use cutting edge technology to reduce emissions whilst also remaining affordable for passengers. "Mexico and the UK: a productive relation" - Chris Bryant's article
Mexico matters greatly to the UK. Back home, we perceive Mexico as a vibrant, dynamic place that, in spite of facing huge challenges, is taking seriously its development needs. During his visit, Chris Bryant will meet his Mexican counterpart, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Lourdes Aranda Bezaury, as part of the Bilateral High Level Political Talks.
Chris Bryant will also attend a number of strategic meetings with an emphasis on:
- climate change
- sustainable development
- human rights
- trade and investment

Chris Bryant MP met his Mexican counterpart, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Lourdes Aranda Bezaury, as part of the Bilateral High Level Political Talks.Mexican Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs, Lourdes Aranda Bazaury meet Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the FCO Chris Bryant in her office to discuss about the bilateral collaboration between Mexico and the UK. The main topics of their conversation were swine flu, organised crime, the G20 meeting in Pittsburgh and trade.
Chris Bryant's visit strengthened bilateral and multilateral relations between Mexico and the UK by also discussing relevant international issues such as human rights and nuclear power proliferation.

Human Rights round table breakfast
Foreign Office Minister Chris Bryant started his visit with a Human Rights breakfast which included representatives from Mexican human rights non-governmental organisations, Alberto Brunori, the representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Mexico, and the human rights ombudsman for Mexico City, Emilio Álvarez Icaza. Both Chris Bryant and HMA Judith Macgregror emphasized the fact that Mexico is a key partner on international human rights issues and that dialogue on such matters was an important part of the bilateral relationship.
