Sustainable Development


Nowadays, sustainable development is a necessary pre-requisite if we are to deal successfully with such complex problemsas pollution, climate change, environmental degradation and depletion of natural resources while continuing to grow economically.

Both the United Kingdom and Mexico have sustainable development goals, asset out in the UK Government’s Sustainable Development Strategy and inthe Mexican Government’s National Development Plan. Both countries recognise the importance of international co-operation to achieve their sustainable development goals.

What is sustainable development?


Sustainable development is “development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”.

Sustainable Development Dialogue

The Sustainable Development Dialogue (SDD) between the United Kingdom and Mexico builds on existing co-operation between the two countries, providing a coherent framework for new and innovative collaboration to take place.
