The Carriage Procession takes place after the ceremonial welcome

Since her accession to the throne in 1952, Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II has hosted nearly 100 State Visits.

Each year, there are two incoming State Visits. Selected countries are invited through the British Embassy on behalf of The Queen.

This is the third time Mexico has received an invitation for a State Visit. The two previous State Visits were in 1973 and 1985, with the then president Luis Echeverría Álvarez and Miguel de la Madrid, respectively.

During his stay in the United Kigndom, President Felipe Calderon and his wife Margarita Zavala will stay at Buckingham Palace, where The Queen will host a State banquet in their honour.

The State Visit begins with a ceremonial welcome, attended by The Queen and other senior members of the Royal Family.

After the ceremonial welcome, the President and his wife travel with the Queen in a Carriage Procession to Buckingham Palace.
