Human rights are a priority for the UK as part of their values, interests and international duties. They are at the heart of UK foreign policy.   

The UK firmly believes that a democratic society that respects its citizens’ human rights and honours international legal commitments in terms of human rights contributes to worldwide stability, security and prosperity.

SPF funds work which aims to strengthen the international system which guarantees our human rights. This is how the FCO promotes an active dialogue with civil society in order to share opinions on human rights, democracy and governance to promote democratic values worldwide.
