Low carbon, high growth economy
Climate change is one of the biggest challenges that humanity is currently facing.
This is the reason why the UK promotes a transition to a low carbon high growth global economy as a priority to reach worldwide economic stability.
In order to fight climate change, we must reduce carbon emissions and focus on alternative solutions.
At the same time, we must encourage the use of technologies that enable energy efficiency and take advantage of renewable energy sources. In order to make this change, we must also look for ways to ensure a high economic growth which guarantees higher living standards for future generations.
Our work aims to support the understanding of the relation between economic growth and the implementation of policies to mitigate the effects of climate change and adapt to them.
Strategic Programmes Fund (SPF) also collaborates with Mexican stakeholders to build a legal framework that will encourage transparency and sustainable practices within Mexican companies to strengthen their competitiveness.
Due to its megadiversity and its regional role, Mexico is a strategic partner for the UK and priority country to receive UK funds specifically in climate change and economic reform.
